DEVELOPMENT PROJECT HOUSING

Grihayan Tahobil was established in the fiscal year 1997-98 with the view to eliminating the housing problems as well as eradicating poverty of homeless poor and low-income people of the country. Basically, the formation of Grihayan Tahobil and its modus operandi is the reflection of own thoughts of the Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Which indicates her Government’s awareness towards the homeless people of the country.  Housing activities of Grihayan Tahobil are being implemented through Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) in the country. Bangladesh Bank’s Grihayan Tahobil Department is monitoring NGO activities very closely. Samajik Seba Songhothon is a renowned organization that is implementing this project since 2005. Under this project, Samajik Seba Shonghothon provides housing loans to TK. 1,30,000/- for each specific house as designed and specified in the schedule through the organization. Grihayan Tahobil charges a simple rate of interest of 5.5% on the borrowers, the recovery period of the said loan is 5 years. Samajik Seba Shonghothon has disbursed Tk.3,00,55,000/- to 1153 Poor houseless people from 2005 to till now.
